Mandela Talona

Program Officer Community Engagement

Talona Mandela is a dedicated peer educator and communications expert with a rich background in journalism, mass communication, and community health. His work with Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU) highlights his commitment to improving the lives of young people through education and advocacy. Mandela has successfully implemented numerous projects, including community dialogues, peer learning sessions, and district entry meetings, addressing critical issues such as sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

As a communication fellow at RAHU, Mandela has managed various communication-related activities, including updating the SautiPlus mobile application and website with valuable content. His role as a programs officer has seen him lead community engagements, further strengthening RAHU’s impact on youth and community health.

Mandela excels in fostering collaboration with donors and partners, ensuring seamless project implementation and sustainability. His ability to build and maintain strong relationships has been crucial in securing support from organizations like Save the Children, enhancing the reach and effectiveness of RAHU’s initiatives.

Mandela’s education includes a Certificate in Strengthening Education and Training Capacity in SRHR from Nsamizi Center and a background in journalism from YMCA Comprehensive Institute. His skills in photography, videography, and field research have been instrumental in his work, allowing him to capture and share compelling stories that inspire change.

Fluent in English, Swahili, French, and Luganda, Mandela is a versatile communicator known for his professionalism, adaptability, and unwavering dedication to his principles and responsibilities. His leadership and advocacy continue to drive positive change in communities across Uganda.
