Light for the World is the initiator of the Make 12.4% Work Initiative that was developed as a prototype under the Livelihoods Improvement Challenge Project, funded under the East Africa Disability Fund established by the Big Lottery Fund.
The Make 12.4% Work Initiative looks at triggering the private, public and development sector to open up employment opportunities and livelihoods programs to persons with disabilities.
From the start of the design of the initiative Light for the World has worked together with a group of talented young leaders with a disability. They are role models, and the drivers of the Initiative; together they form a pool of Disability Inclusion Facilitators, with the capacity to train on disability awareness and disability inclusion, and coach the members of the Make 12.4% Work Initiative.
